                                    Chamadumpa/Taro root Pulusu




Ingredients:

  • Chamadumpa/Taro root/Arbi-8 or 10.
  • Chopped Onion-1medium sized.
  • Chopped Tomatoes-2.
  • Green chilli - 3(cut into lengthwise).
  • Tamarind -small lemon sized soak in water and extract pulp.
  • Sugar-1tsp.
  • Turmeric powder-pinch.
  • Methi powder-pinch.
  • Red chilli powder-1tsp.
  • Salt-to taste.
  • Water-2cups.
  • Coriander leaves-for garnishing.
  • Dhania powder-1tsp.
  • Oil-3tbsp.
  • Curry leaves-Few.
  • Mustard seeds-1tsp.
  • Jeera-1tsp.
Method:
  • Taro root is very hard and it takes much time to cook. It will be better if u use pressure cooker to cook them quicker.
  • Wash taro root thoroughly and put them in a pressure cooker.
  • Add water and cook it for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
  • Once the pressure has come down,open the lid and allow it to cool.
  • Then peel the skin and dice them.keep them aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds,jeera.Allow them to crackle.
  • Add turmeric powder,curry leaves and green mirchi.Saute for a minute.
  • Add chopped onions,Salt. Cook it  for 5minutes or until onions turns golden brown.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes. Cook for another4-5 minutes.
  • Add taro root,red chilli powder,dhania powder and mix it well.
  • Add sugar and tamarind pulp.
  • Add water and allow it to boil for 10 minutes.
  • Finally add methi powder.Cook it for a minute.
  • Finally add coriander leaves.
